- Participating in the selection of Mahindra Humanities Center postdoctoral fellowship (each faculty leader will participate twice during the 3-year period)
- Mentoring the selected postdocs
- Planning the Mahindra Humanities Center’s public programming in dialogue with the Center director and hosting public events and workshops related to the I-HUM theme.
- Planning events related to the I-HUM theme for graduate students, preferably emphasizing the public humanities.
Faculty leaders are eligible to receive research support and one semester of in-residence leave as an I-HUM Mahindra Faculty Fellow.
Application
The deadline for proposals for the next I-HUM Project will be in the spring of 2023. The proposal must be jointly submitted by 3 faculty from the FAS, who wish to serve as I-HUM faculty leaders for three academic years, from the fall of 2024 to spring of 2027. Faculty interested in submitting an application may contact the Director of the Mahindra Humanities Center, Suzannah Clark, or the Dean of Arts & Humanities, Robin Kelsey prior to the applications opening. Applications will open in the fall of 2022 and will require the following information:
- Names of 3 faculty leaders from the FAS, across disciplines. One faculty member should be named as the main contact person for the duration of the I-HUM project. Only tenure-track or tenured faculty are eligible. Only one of the faculty may be a tenure-track faculty member. The tenure-track faculty may not be the organizing contact person.
- Name of proposed theme and explanation of research outcomes, preferably including some element of the public humanities.
- Course topics and brief description for Hum 93: Mahindra Scholars Lab. The course will be co-taught by two of the I-HUM faculty leaders in the spring semester of each of the three years.
- Description of the milestones for undergraduates in the Undergraduate Scholars Initiative.
- Description of additional programming that the faculty envision would enhance the engagement of faculty, post-docs, graduates and undergraduates across Harvard, as well as the broader community. Additional programing formats may involve lectures, events, workshops, or other formats that showcase the I-HUM theme.
- Description of sabbatical plans, as relevant. Ideally, no two faculty would be on sabbatical at the same time and therefore faculty may wish to indicate how they would accommodate each other’s sabbaticals, should they fall within the I-HUM period.
